THE PHOWA PRACTICE: AS PRESENTED BY MICHELE-DOLKAR 8 JAN, 2024
 

The Phowa is the transference of consciousness, a Tibetan Buddhist practice that can be done to help with the process of death & dying. The Phowa is considered to be very beneficial & effective practice in helping the dead or dying person & it's a 49 day
practice.

Sit quietly & begin to feel yourself become relaxed with great love & compassion. WITH YOUR LOVED ONE IN HEART-MIND...

Recite the Refuge Prayer & The Four Immeasurables.

Refuge Prayer: Recite 108x's

I Go to Buddha, Dharma & Sangha, until I achieve Enlightenment. Through the Virtues I collect by generosity & other perfections, May I become a Buddha for the benefit of All Sentient Beings.

Four Immeasurables: Recite 108x's

May All Sentient Beings be happy & have the causes of Happiness.
May All Sentient Beings be Free from suffering & cease the causes of Suffering.
May All Sentient Beings never be separated from the Happiness that is free from
suffering
May All Sentient Beings abide in Equanimity, free from both Attachment & Detachment.

"9 Point Meditation on Death"

-Death is Certain

-There is no escape

-Life has a limit, each moment brings me closer

-Death can come at any moment & fully unexpected

-It takes a lot of efforts to stay alive

-Important to have a stable Dharma practice

-Only Dharma is helpful at time of death

-Money, possessions, friends, relatives, body are not of any help when we die

-Results from our Actions & Tendencies come with us to our next life
